More New Troops added to the lists...

At the York show I picked up a few figures from Mark (LOSH on General de Brigade) who was selling some of his AWI collection. They are very nicely done. I would have liked to buy more but current funds and my need for big units didn't permit it. I finally got round to basing them all up ready for Saturdays game. I wanted troops I could use in varying size units so I went for the combined Grenadiers and Lights and a small unit of Delanceys to go with the one I'm going to be painting soon (honest!). I also needed a few 17th Dragoons.

Anyway, here they are...

First the converged Lights. A mix of Polly Oliver and mostly Essex.

And a unit of converged Grenadiers. These are all Polly Oliver advancing figures. I have a few of the marching pose as well which I intend to paint myself as I like the figure. I may end up with too many Grenadiers but they'll come in handy when I do Brandywine and Germantown at 1:5!

I have figures prepped for my own unit of Delanceys. These are done with blue facings but I may do my own with green and have them with a Union flag to fight side by side with these.

And finally the 17th Dragoons. There were seven figures and the spare will do for the 17th officer who commanded some of the British Legion. Can't put my hands on the details at the moment but I'm sure he would have retained his uniform. Nicely done figures, regardless, even if a little smart for the Southern Campaign!

British Grenadier markers Part 3

Well, after a little break due to illness both for me and the kids I may actually get a game in next Saturday. Here are the rest of the markers I've made up for the game. Think I need to see them in use before I decide what to use for what.

British Grenadier markers Part 2

There was an interesting link on TMP to the Koenig Krieg website where they had what look like pre-molded triangular markers with numbers 1-3 and a molded generic musketeer casualty. At least that's what I take them to be. Can't find a link to buy any yet so thought I'd have a go at making some of my own - well one to start with:

I know Paul Marsh has done similar for his 15mm BG but using stones to mark the numbers. Can't decide whether to go for that, this or this with white text on black? Either way, I have another 18 casualty figures I can use and need to get them done for the first BG game on Saturday!

York

Well, made it to York on Sunday. My first time at Vapnartak since it moved to the racecourse. The old venue was 'characterful' but not ideal in terms of space and lighting. The new is excellent. Not as spacious as say Derby but good none the less. We arrived about 10:30 to be greeted by cars stuck in mud in the parking area but got a spot and headed in. I'd arranged to meet Eccles from the W3D Forums to hand over some Polly Oliver AWI Brits but he texted to say he couldn't make it.

I'd also arranged to meet Mark who I've been negotiating buying some 15mm Polly Oliver AWI from. These were very nice figures: 12 DeLancey's, 24 Grenadiers, 30 Light Infantry and 18 Casualty figs. There's a part pic of Delanceys in the post above and I'll post more when I get them rebased.

Other purchases included:

Pre-cut mdf - both bases and random shapes for woods etc.
Some flock and 'field' material
British Grenadier Scenario Book 1
Armies of the Seven Years War: French and Reichsarmee
GMT Monmouth boardgame for £12 on the B&B for £12
Some more Basetex

And for the first time ever I think, NO unpainted figures!

Saw most of the display games but nothing really grabbed. Not to say it wasn't nice stuff, just not in my interest area - I'm a bit funny like that :)

We ended up leaving about 2pm, partly to avoid the impending snow. Enjoyed it though andwill be going again next year, wife permitting!

I'd bought one pack of pre-cut mdf bases which I really like the idea of but they are twice the thickness of the card I use and for my AWI I think the difference shows in 15mm. May use them for my next project, whatever that may be!
